Advanced Diploma in Retail and Supply Chain Management

The Supply chain plays a very important role in delivering finished products to stores, whereas
retailing involves the distribution of the finished products to the consumer.

BITC Advanced Diploma course gives learners a foundation in business and management knowledge and
skills. It also students to gain valuable knowledge in retail and supply chain management for the
baking and food service industry. The knowledge and skills gained from the course are transferable
and can be applied in all aspects of retailing.

Business Environment

This module will develop the students understanding of the everchanging global business environment and
how internal and external factors affect the business environment. They will also be able to keep up to
date of the latest trends in modern business environment and learn about the challenges that business
have to face in the Baking and Food Service Sector.

People in Organizations

This module will make students understand the structure of the organization and how different people
behave differently in organizations. This will include Team work, Team building, Organizational
behaviour, staff motivation etc. Student will be able to identify appropriate workplace strategies for
Baking and Food Service Sector.

The marketing Mix:

This module will teach students about Basic Principles of marketing, Importance of Marketing, Marketing
Mixes and the Seven Aspects of the Marketing Mix. Students can then help develop marketing plans for
baking and food service operators.

Customer Relationship Management

This module will enhance students’ knowledge and understanding of the scope and importance of Customer
Relationship Management (CRM). Students will understand the importance of Customer relationship
management and also understand how to deliver the same in the food service and baking Business.

Retail Management

On completion of this module students will have a basic understanding of retail operations. It aims to
equip the students with the knowledge, skills and techniques to operate the basic functions in retail as
well as online stores. Learners will learn topics such as store management, visual merchandising, retail
space planning and IT application tools.

Electronic Commerce

This modules provides the students with a basic understanding of electronic commerce and electronic
marketing. Students will get to know the importance of Social media marketing and will acquire knowledge
and practical skills in operating popular social media marketing tools such as facebook, youtube,
twitter and Instagram

Supply Chain Management

This module focusses and teaches the students about the Basics of Supply Chain management. Students will
learn how to conduct supply chain capacity design and planning, as well as apply supply management
principles. Learners will have an opportunity to examine the SCM challenges faced by baking and the food
Service Industry.

Logistics Management

This module teaches the students the definition of logistics and its basics. It aims to provide the
students with the knowledge and skills to operate basic logistical functions in purchasing, inventory,
warehousing, transportation and packaging.

Industry Attachment

Learners will get to apply the knowledge and skills which they have gained in the classroom in a real
work setting. Learners will be deployed to Retail and Supply chain management positions for a period of
6 months. Industrial Attachment is a compulsory and integral part of the course. Should a learner be
unable to complete the Industrial Attachment due to circumstances beyond the control of the college, the
learner will be required to complete a Project Work instead.

12 months comprising of 6 months class based study & 6 months internship

Students will be assessed by a variety of assignments.

Students who have successfully completed the course by passing every module will be awarded the Advanced Diploma in Retail and Supply Chain Management by Baking industry Training College.
