Diploma in Hospitality (Café Operations)

The Diploma in Hospitality (Café Operations) is designed for prospective students who would like to gain knowledge in Hospitality Sector especially in the Café sector. The course also prepares them for further studies in the hospitality sector. Moreover students are able to put their knowledge gained to the test through the six month industrial attachment after the six month study course.

Business Operations

This module will teach students with a basic knowledge about how the operations in a organisation work. Topics include financial analysis, organizational behaviour, leadership and employee motivation. Students on completion of this module will be able to relate to Business operations in sectors related to hospitality.

Hospitality Marketing

This module will teach students about the basics of marketing, its importance in business and hospitality. Topics include the marketing mix, market research and analysis as well as E marketing. Learners will learn how to apply marketing know-how in the hospitality sector.

Academic and Research Skills (60 hours)

This module will teach prospective students about importance of market research, academic research and writing skills. Topics include academic English, primary and secondary research, listening and reading strategies, referencing and crafting research proposal.

Communication Skill

This module aims at improving the students English abilities. This includes Written , oral and listening capabilities. Furthermore this includes improving body language, spoken English, Phonetics and Hospitality English.

Pastry and Baking Techniques

This module will teach students the basics of Bread, cake and pastry making.

Food and beverage Operations

This module will teach students, about the practical knowledge required in the food service industry. Topics will encompass food and beverage service, table setting, Handling of Alcoholic and Non Alcoholic beverages.

Internship

6 months Internship is a compulsory and integral part of the course. In Singapore internship is done under training work permit issued by Ministry of Manpower. Trainee are also paid an fixed salary per month. Should a learner be unable to complete the Industrial Attachment due to circumstances beyond the control of the college, the learner will be required to complete a Project Work instead.

12 months comprising of 6 months class based study & 6 months internship

Students will be assessed by a variety of assignments and examinations

Students who have successfully completed the course by passing every module will be awarded the Diploma in Hospitality (Café Operations) by the Baking Industry Training College.
